recommended split-screen PS2 games

Hi,

I'm considering buying a PS2 that will be used by myself and my father. We
used to have a PS1 and we really enjoyed split screen racing games. Our
favorites were Twisted Metal (1 and 2) and Need for Speed 2.

I'm wondering if someone can recommend similar games for the PS2? Looking
at the web sites, I don't see a lot of description of split-screen games,
nor do I see many screen shots of them. Are split-screen games still
popular?

You could just use the same game on the PS2. I should play them just
fine.

Is it as fun to play in two-player?
