It'll be interesting to see what sales are like at that price point. I
just don't see it doing well over the long term at that price point.
They'll get the early adopters this holiday season, but it's going to
be tough to say to Wii owners (or non-gamers in general) that they
have to pay $300 again after the price drop of the Arcade unit to
below $200 a year ago. Casual gamers won't be interested in excuses
about "accessories" and "add-ons" - all they're going to see is $200
for a Wii and $300 for an Xbox 360. Guess which one they'll pick.

$150?!?! I can't wait to see the marketting blitz to justify this
price for a glorified $60 EyeToy.

Unless it comes with 2 or 3 full blown games or 5 to 10 "mini" games
there's no way it will be worth $150.

Full fledged games, maybe. A "Wii Sports" disc isn't going to help the
appeal with a $150 price tag. Remember that this is $150 in addition
to purchasing an Elite or $300 total for the Arcade. Microsoft is
positioning this for "non-gamers" so they definitely won't have an
Xbox 360 already.

Yeah, that's already sounding like a Virtual Boy-esque potential
disaster, unless they have some absolutely killer titles for it.

We can also start the countdown clock for some kid socking another one
in the nose during a fighting game.

That would be *HILARIOUS.* I'm sure there will be tons of YouTube
videos, also. I hope they have a Star Wars lightsaber type game so we
can see that Star Wars kid do his thing online.

Too expensive. They'll need to do some bundle deals very quickly, or drop the price
quickly after the early adopter rush.

Have no doubt! If 1 killer game/app is released for this, at launch it will
sell by the bucket load! It looks good, but so did Nintendos Virtual Boy!

It's called "price anchoring", over-price at first, then quickly drop
the price letting consumers feel like they're getting a deal (whether
before release or after depends on other factors -- If they're ramping
up for Christmas rush, getting this out the door now at $150 lets them
drop it to $75 and throw in some token games with it to add value just
in time for Christmas)

If the early adopters get too loud, throw them some store credit or
something to shut them up.

Hahahaha and then they'll have to replace the first million units when they
break because of cheap/faulty/over heating components! Oh Microsoft! We know
you far too well!

With sales of the Wii petering out, signalling a saturation of the
"motion sensing" market, MS and Sony has got to be asking themselves,
"Why are we doing this again?"

Who says it's saturation of the motion sensing market? Microsoft and
Sony are probably busy giggling about the Wii converts they'll win over
because their platform is technologically superior to Wii without
looking at the reasons Wii sales are slowing.

Right, those tech savy grandmas and pudgy single women that bought
Wiis (their first game console ever) now are going to want a $450
"technologically superior" platform.

They wouldn't even want to pay the $300 it will actually cost! ;-)

Those Wii converts are ready for a *real* system now. Arcade just
won't do! They need GIGS and GIGS of storage. You think kids on the
mic are annoying, wait till you have grandma trash talking to you.

They aren't. The grandmother market is probably saturated.

However, the "grandmother who buys their grandkid anything they think
the kid might want" and "soccer mom who thinks this might get the kid to
exercise since the kid plays XBox360 even though they have a Wii"
markets are wide open.

I doubt many serious gamers will get into it, motion interfaces just
don't provide serious gamers with the level of control they want, to me
they're more suited at social gaming.

MS is delusional if this is the price point that Natal will cost at
launch.
This has to be a rumor because if not MS is off their rocker. No
wonder they have people jumping ship weeks before the announcement.
